The Hidden Factor Behind Brain Fog and Fatigue in Hashimoto’s with Inna Topiler

Blood Flow, Brain Fog, and Hashimoto’s: The Hidden Connection You Can’t Ignore

Many people with Hashimoto’s focus on optimizing thyroid hormones, but what if something else is silently sabotaging your energy and brain function?

The Case:

  • Cindy, Jennifer, and Karen each struggle with persistent brain fog and extreme fatigue, despite managing their Hashimoto’s.
  • They have already improved their diets, added supplements, and worked with their doctors to adjust thyroid medications.
  • They continue to feel exhausted, foggy, and disconnected, missing the sharpness and internal spark they once had.

How Poor Blood and Lymph Flow Impact Brain Fog and Fatigue in Hashimoto’s

Even when thyroid hormones are well-managed, poor circulation can quietly starve the brain and body of the oxygen and nutrients they need to create energy. Without enough blood flow, cells can’t properly make ATP (adenosine triphosphate), and without proper lymphatic drainage, toxins build up, triggering inflammation, brain fog, and more fatigue.

In addition, small everyday factors like neck posture, sitting too long, or mild dehydration can silently restrict blood and lymph flow over time, making matters even worse.

This is why so many people with Hashimoto’s continue to feel tired and foggy even when they’re “doing everything right.”

The Blood Flow and Brain Connection in Hashimoto’s

Your blood delivers the raw materials needed for energy production, and your lymphatic system clears away the waste. When either of these systems is sluggish, it creates a perfect storm for:

  • Brain fog
  • Fatigue
  • Poor memory and concentration
  • Headaches (including migraines)
  • Slower thyroid hormone delivery to cells

And it’s not about big, obvious issues. Something as simple as a forward head posture can restrict blood vessels and lymphatic drainage around the brain. It takes less than 30 seconds, and it’s the first step in a series of steps to open up your circulation to your brain in a really powerful way.

The Role of Posture in Blood and Lymphatic Flow

One of the biggest (and most overlooked) causes of poor circulation is forward head posture, this is something I see in almost everyone.  If you want to check for yourself, stand sideways to a mirror and take a look at your chin. Is it jutting forward a little bit? What about the back of the next, do you see a small or pronounced hump (called a dowager’s hump)?

When the head juts forward (even slightly), it compresses the blood vessels and lymphatic pathways in the neck, reducing the delivery of oxygen to the brain and slowing the removal of waste.

In this episode, I walk you through a simple exercise to help reduce blockages caused by head posture. Here’s a simple thing you can do to improve next posture, especially if you sit all day long:

  • Once an hour, sit up tall.
  • Gently tuck your chin back, like you’re making a double chin.
  • Roll your shoulders down and back.

Even a few seconds of realignment can start improving brain oxygenation right away.

How Gentle Movement Boosts Blood Flow and Brain Function

You don’t need intense exercise to support blood flow. In fact, too much exercise can backfire by raising cortisol.

Instead, I like to do small, frequent movements throughout the day to wake up circulation, such as:

  • Standing up and walking around every hour
  • Lightly stretching or balancing on toes
  • Doing a simple “rag doll” twist in the morning to jumpstart circulation. Listen to the episode for more details on how to do this fun exercise. I love this one.

These small habits can break up blood and lymph stagnation, improving both physical and mental energy.

Why Deep Breathing Matters for Hashimoto’s Brain Fog

Here is another practice I love and do all the time – breathwork for Hashimoto’s.

Shallow chest breathing is common in Hashimoto’s, but it can slow blood oxygenation and lymphatic flow.

Practicing simple belly breathing throughout the day supports better circulation. Here’s my favorite technique:

  • Inhale through the nose for a count of 4
  • Take a small extra sip of air and hold
  • Exhale slowly for a count of 8
  • Repeat 5–6 times

Deep breathing boosts energy naturally and gives the brain the oxygen it needs to stay sharp.

The Importance of Proper Hydration for Blood and Lymph Flow with Hashimoto’s

Your blood is about half water, so even mild dehydration thickens blood and slows both circulation and toxin clearance.

Hydrating properly isn’t just about drinking more water, it’s about absorbing it. I personally add clean, sugar-free electrolytes (like LyteShow Drops or Electrolyte Synergy) to my water to support true hydration without the chemicals found in sports drinks.

Better hydration can also ease headaches, PMS symptoms, and swelling which are all common struggles for those with Hashimoto’s.

Blood flow is a big piece of the puzzle, and so many people miss it, but it’s so, so important.

Why Brain Fog and Fatigue in Hashimoto’s Are Rarely About Just One Thing

Now, as we talk about the puzzle, of course, a puzzle has many pieces, and we need all of them in place to see the whole picture.

When it comes to Hashimoto’s, brain fog, and low energy, there are actually many different layers that stack on top of each other. In addition to blood and lymph flow, we also want to look at:

  • Blood sugar imbalances, even if you’re eating “healthy”
  • Inflammation that slows down your mitochondria, which are the little engines inside your cells
  • Nutrient deficiencies that standard blood work often misses
  • Cortisol and adrenal rhythm issues that throw off your natural energy curve
  • How well your body clears out waste and toxins during sleep

It’s usually not just one thing. It’s a few things happening all at once, overlapping, stacking up, and making each other worse.

Overcoming Extreme Fatigue and Brain Fog with Hashimoto’s

It’s so important to remember that the solution for each individual thyroid mystery can look a bit different. Take Cindy, Jenn, and Karen, for example. When I worked with each woman, the focus wasn’t just on circulation, it was about looking at the full picture and determining what was keeping their body stuck.

Here’s what made the biggest impact:

  • Cindy: Balancing blood sugar, the thyroid-specific way, and adding lymphatic activation exercises helped lift her brain fog within days.
  • Jennifer: Shifting her morning coffee routine and supporting mitochondrial function helped eliminate afternoon energy crashes.
  • Karen: Prioritizing hydration and daily gentle movement restored her mental clarity and stamina during workouts.

Each of them saw lasting improvements once circulation, adrenal function, mitochondria, and thyroid hormone support were layered together, proving that small, strategic changes can create big transformations.

You Can Clear the Fog and Feel Like Yourself Again

If you’re feeling foggy and fatigued despite “doing all the things” to work on your thyroid health, then blood and lymph flow could be the missing piece.

Simple daily changes like posture checks, hydration upgrades, gentle movement, and deep breathing can help clear the pathways your brain and body depend on.

You don’t need to stay stuck feeling tired and like your brain isn’t operating at full capacity.
With the right thyroid-specific support, you can feel energized, clear, and like yourself again.

A New Hashimoto’s-Specific Solution for Brain Fog and Fatigue

I know how common these struggles are. In fact, fatigue and the accompanying brain fog are the number one issues I hear about from people in our community.

That’s exactly why I decided to create a program that helps with both (because brain fog and fatigue often go hand in hand), and most importantly, it’s designed specifically for those of us with Hashimoto’s.

I also know that when you’re tired, the last thing you want is a complicated, overwhelming plan. You want something that’s simple, to the point, and easy to implement, because when your brain is foggy, you don’t have the extra bandwidth to figure out a complicated protocol.

So I purposely made this a 9-day, step-by-step plan where I guide you through exactly what to do each day — no guessing, no piecing it together yourself.

And yes, we absolutely cover blood flow!

There’s even a whole tutorial you can do in just about 10 minutes a day where I show you exactly how to activate your blood and lymph flow using just your hands. No extra supplements needed. No complicated food changes required.

The best part is that this technique often works very quickly. Most people feel a difference almost instantly. And, as an extra bonus, it can help with water retention, give your skin more of a glow, and even help reduce wrinkles. Win-win in my book!

This program is truly designed to fit into your life, not take it over.

If you’re feeling tired and foggy, definitely check it out. You can see all the details at innatopiler.com/energy.

And whether you join me inside or not, I hope this episode gave you a new way to think about your energy. Remember, you don’t need to stay stuck feeling this way forever.
